One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

by Alex Boesch, Student Public Relations Writer

A partnership between Cedarville University and Legacy Christian Academy in Xenia will offer Legacy students rigorous college-level courses without leaving the Legacy campus. The credits earned through the program from Cedarville's dual enrollment program can be used toward both high school and college graduation.  Legacy Christian Partnership

The unique partnership will allow Legacy’s high school instructors to teach Cedarville’s English courses from their own classrooms.

“With dual enrollment, students often leave the high school campus to take their college classes,” said Stephen Buettell, director of dual enrollment. “As a result, they lose a lot of high school leadership opportunities and connections. But with Cedarville’s partnership with Legacy Christian, the students maintain their high school community while taking college-level classes.”

This partnership is the first of its kind for the university. Legacy is an ideal candidate for this pilot partnership due to its proximity, alumni connections and desire to maintain the core biblical foundation of Cedarville University courses.

“We value the Christian high school experience,” said Buettell. “Hopefully, students will be encouraged that Christian education doesn’t just end in high school.”

While Legacy Christian Academy will be the only school partnering with the University in the fall, more Ohio-based Christian schools are expected to follow in the coming years.

“Oftentimes, high school teachers have incredible skills,” said Buettell. “This program allows us to encourage those who have earned a master's degree and let them teach at the college level.”

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 4,715 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 150 areas of study.
