One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

As global markets face rising protectionist pressures, Dr. Samuel Gregg, president of the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), will speak about free trade as an essential requirement for prosperity, peace and the preservation of liberty at Cedarville University on Thursday, Sept. 11. His presentation begins at 7 p.m. in the Scharnberg Business and Communication Center auditorium and is free and open to the public. 

A leading economist, author and public intellectual, Gregg is the president at the AIER, a nonpartisan research organization dedicated to promoting free enterprise, limited government and individual liberty. He leads initiatives focused on monetary policy, economic freedom and combatting collectivist ideologies, all priorities that reflect his broader vision of defending liberty in an age of political and economic uncertainty. 

“Dr. Gregg brings clarity and conviction to a conversation that affects every American — the future of our economic freedom,” said Dr. Jeffrey Haymond, dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business. “We are thrilled to host this event and invite the public to join us.”

Drawing from history, moral philosophy and contemporary policy, he will argue that open markets remain a vital component of any free society. 

A prolific writer and scholar, Gregg has authored 17 books, including “The Next American Economy: Nation, State and Markets in an Uncertain World” (2022), “Reason, Faith, and the Struggle for Western Civilization” (2019), and “Becoming Europe” (2013). His work has been published in The Wall Street Journal and National Review. 

Originally from Australia, Gregg earned a D.Phil. in moral philosophy and political economy from Oxford University and an M.A. in political philosophy from the University of Melbourne.
