Demand for artificial intelligence skills in entry-level job postings has nearly tripled since fall 2025, according to 2026 research by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. As AI reshapes expectations for new professionals, Cedarville University is preparing students to use AI thoughtfully, ethically and effectively in the classroom and the workplace.
Cedarville University Career Services, understanding this trend, is launching Résumé GPT and Interview GPT — two customized tools that will help students strengthen their résumés and practice interviews.
This initiative is expected to set Cedarville graduates apart from other recent graduates.
Résumé GPT combines Cedarville Career Services guidelines with real Cedarville student outcomes to provide personalized résumé feedback. Using historical First Destination Survey data and university enrollment data, Résumé GPT will help students see how their résumé compares with Cedarville peers and broader industry expectations. The result is practical, field-specific feedback grounded in both résumé best practices and the experiences of Cedarville graduates.
Interview GPT will offer similar customization for interview preparation, helping students practice questions specific to particular industries and positions. Both tools will incorporate Cedarville-specific data and insights from students and alumni.
“One of our core values is to be on the cutting edge of technology within the career services department,” said Cam Arminio, director of career services. “We’d be doing students a disservice if we didn’t step into the space of AI — learning from employers, learning from students and providing resources that prepare them for the real world.”
The tools are designed to complement human interaction, not replace it. By using AI for basic résumé and interview preparation, students can use face-to-face meetings with Career Services professionals to focus on more nuanced skills, including nonverbal communication and other interpersonal skills.
“Our goal is to best prepare future graduates for their job interviews,” said Arminio. “By combining AI-based coaching with high-level human coaching, we’re working at a higher level that can help students practice answers to interview questions and coach the importance of soft skills and nonverbal communication. Interviewing is an art and a skill, and that’s where humans still matter.” 
The tools support Career Services’ “build, strengthen, finish” approach to AI-assisted career preparation. Students first build their own content, then strengthen it with AI and finally finish the process with feedback from human reviewers. The approach gives students experience using AI while keeping human judgment and individual responsibility at the center of the process.
For Career Services, integrating AI into professional development also helps bridge the gap between higher education and changing employer expectations. As organizations across industries incorporate AI into their operations, Cedarville is preparing students to enter the workforce with experience using the technology responsibly.
As Cedarville expands its use of AI across campus, Career Services is emphasizing a similar principle in professional preparation: Technology can make students more prepared for human interaction, but it cannot replace it. The goal is for students to arrive at career coaching with the basics already strengthened — leaving more time for the conversations, judgment and personal feedback that technology cannot provide.
