Cedarville University industrial and innovative design program hosts recruitment day
Gaining a direct path to internships and careers is the focus of Cedarville University’s industrial and innovative design program’s annual recruitment day. Held at the International Center for Creativity (ICC) in Dublin, Ohio, this event gives industrial design students the chance to explore career opportunities that fit perfectly with their interests.

The fourth annual recruitment day is scheduled for March 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the ICC. Many local and internationally known companies are expected to attend: Answers in Genesis, Bath and Body Works, Goken, Fortner Custom Furniture, Sutphen Fire Trucks and Hub + Weber Architects. The event brings together employers across several design-related fields and encourages networking through portfolio reviews and brief interviews.
Networking, portfolio reviews and interviews with design employers
Sarah Lacey, industrial designer and studio manager at the ICC, manages and plans the event by recruiting companies, preparing students and overseeing setup and day-of logistics.
“Recruitment day is a fantastic networking opportunity with larger and local companies,” said Lacey. “As a student, you never know who you’re going to meet or what industries are out there.”
Hands-on industrial design education and industry partnerships at Cedarville
The industrial and innovative design program emphasizes hands-on work with industry partners and career preparation. The program is regarded as a leading program among private Christian universities in the United States, and its reputation has helped the ICC build partnerships with organization such as Chick-fil-A and the Creation Museum. More than 200 graduates have secured positions with global design consulting firms, major brands and manufacturing companies.
Those relationships give students opportunities to develop innovative designs, propose creative ideas to improve efficiency and deliver polished visual presentations — experience that helps prepare them for internships and full-time roles after graduation.
Cedarville industrial design alumni careers and employer connections
The program’s industry connections also translate into careers. Abigail Ryan, a 2024 graduate, is an industrial designer who focuses on innovative products within the building products business segment at Worthington Enterprises. Joshua Stover, a 2023 graduate, is now an industrial designer and project manager with Fortner Custom Furniture, a custom furniture company in Columbus, Ohio. Stories like theirs reflect the career pathways students begin building through portfolio development, employer connections and events like recruitment day.
