Access Control Technician: Campus Safety

Cedarville University is seeking to hire an Access Control Technician responsible for providing support to the Access Control Supervisor in the management of the overall access control systems at the University. This position requires learning and understanding the multiple access control database systems including lock and keying systems used on campus as well as the computerized data access control systems and technologies used to support them.  In addition, the position will assist with maintaining the surveillance camera systems that are utilized throughout the campus. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Access Control Supervisor.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Enters student and faculty/staff data into the access control system for both on-line and stand-alone access units
  • Performs regular data base management functions – reviewing, updating, and/or deleting system records
  • Reviews e-mail and access control work orders on a daily basis and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Conducts follow-up reviews with department directors/managers in order to retrieve University keys from faculty/staff that have terminated employment with the university or moved to other departments
  • Operate and review camera surveillance system footage when requests are received to investigate possible problems and complaints
  • Assists with the management of the University key system that includes making, issuing and tracking keys as well as preparing and installing lock cores
  • Generate reports as requested using data from key system, access control system, and/or camera surveillance system
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Access Control Supervisor.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent education and two (2) years of experience in computer technology with experience working with data base software
  • Must be familiar with using standard computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel and be able to learn and become proficient with other computer software systems as necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to become proficient in utilizing the University key record tracking system
  • Must be able to become proficient with using all aspects of the University access control system
  • Must be able to become proficient with using all aspects of the University camera surveillance system
  • Must be able to successfully attend and complete special training programs on access control/surveillance systems and apply knowledge to our campus equipment and facilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
 
  • Responsible for all turf maintenance projects: mowing, seeding, fertilizing, weed and  insect identification
  • Repairs irrigation systems
  • Operates equipment such as mowers, trenchers, sod cutters, edgers, weed trimmers, aerators, fertilizer spreaders, sprayers, and any other equipment necessary.
  • Perform maintenance, (grease, change blades, etc.) on all grounds equipment.
  • Maintain landscape areas.
  • Knowledge and ability to prepare and detail venues for practice sessions, games, meets, and match competitions.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations.
  • Will assist in the operation of facilities during home events
  • During the “off-season” will work with and support the University grounds department performing equipment maintenance, trimming/cutting trees, snow removal and salting roads and sidewalks, etc.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Commercial Applicator Pesticide License either current or anticipated.
  • Prior experience on grounds equipment required.  Training procedure required on all equipment and vehicles. Complete list of equipment and training approval on file

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with graduate applicants as they move through the admissions funnel.

  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with support staff, faculty, directors, and department chairs of the programs represented to enhance quality customer service, and advance departmental enrollment goals.
  • Interface and troubleshoot issues related to application flow with Director of Graduate Admissions and assist with updating changes for smooth follow-up or to enhance admissions through matriculation (i.e. Financial Aid, Cashier, Internationals, Online Student Success, Program Directors, Program Advisors, etc.). Discover and suggest changes to enhance website and marketing materials to assist with resolving communication issues related to admissions and marketing of our Graduate programs.
  • Assist the Director of Graduate Admissions with on-going marketing support and follow-up for programs specific to graduate applicants (i.e. surveys, t-shirts, etc….)
