Position Description:
The Cedarville University School of Engineering and Computer Science seeks faculty applicants in mechanical engineering.This is a tenure-track eligible faculty position. Candidates are sought with expertise in the areas of solid modeling, mechanics, mechanical design, and vibrations.  Highly qualified candidates whose expertise lies in other areas of mechanical engineering may also be considered.
 
Qualifications for this faculty position include a doctorate in mechanical engineering or related discipline, and a proven record of teaching.  A working knowledge of computational software such as Solid Works, Abaqus, and Matlab is considered essential for the position.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and laboratories in a variety of mechanical engineering areas and advise senior design projects.
 
The School of Engineering and Computer Science is housed in a modern facility with extensive state-of-the-art laboratories and offers ABET-accredited BSCpE, BSEE, BSME, and BS degree in Computer Science as well as a newly-started BSCE degree program.

Position Description:

Cedarville University is seeking a STEM/Business Librarian.  This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position within the University’s Centennial Library reporting to the Director of Library Public Services.  Possessing a STEM or business education along with a library degree, the STEM/Business Librarian will contribute to the development and delivery of library instruction services, research and information services, and individual research assistance, with special focus on undergraduate and graduate business, engineering, computer science, mathematics, and science students and faculty.  

The STEM/Business Librarian will accomplish this by providing expert and innovative research support to students and faculty in the STEM and Business programs and by working with STEM and Business faculty to deliver an effective information literacy instruction strategy.  He or she will also seek to implement collaborative partnerships with the STEM and Business programs.  Working collaboratively as part of the library’s research team, the STEM/Business Librarian will help deliver research support services to all students and assist with the effective implementation of innovative library technology, online tools, and digital services.

The successful candidate will possess an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree and a minimum of three years of relevant academic library experience. The successful candidate will also be an excellent classroom communicator, be conversant with relevant research methodologies, possess an academic degree in a STEM or Business field, and demonstrate the ability to engage in proactive, creative outreach.

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science
  • Accredited degree in a STEM or business field (graduate degree preferred)
  • Minimum of three years research, reference, or instruction services in an academic library or university academic department

  • Demonstrated competency with digital library resources and web-based library applications

  4. Develop and maintain alumni regional volunteer programs to assist in recruiting, engaging and fundraising for the University.  
  5. Oversee the Jeremiah Society and Heritage Alumni programs.
  6. Oversee various on campus event scheduling
  7. Assist advising the alumni student organization Delta Alpha Epsilon (DAE)
  8. Serve as a representative of the University
  9. Perform related work as required

Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor's degree required; CU graduate preferred.
  2. Excellent communication and human relation skills.

Staff: Engineering & Computer Science - Projects Lab Steward

The Cedarville University School of Engineering and Computer Science seeks a Projects Lab Steward  who will be responsible for setting, implementing, and maintaining shop safety and security policies in the Engineering Projects Laboratory. This is a part time, non-exempt staff position that reports to the Dean of Engineering and Computer Science.

  • Maintaining inventory of tools and materials for shop operation.
  • Maintaining machines. 

Other Functions

Qualifications

  • Skilled operator of machine shop equipment including welders and wood working tools.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, CNC programming, additive manufacturing, and 3D modeling
  • Knowledgeable of industry standards for shop safety.
  • Able to communicate clearly for the purpose of training others in the use of equipment.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings and fabricate parts, both metal and wood, from drawings.
  • Knowledgeable of machine-shop equipment and ability to diagnose and maintain such equipment.
  • Possess valid driver's license and able to operate vehicles with trailers in tow. 

Required Mental and Physical Abilities

  • Ability to receive and give detailed information through oral communications.
  • Ability lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
