Access Control Technician: Campus Safety

Cedarville University is seeking to hire an Access Control Technician responsible for providing support to the Access Control Supervisor in the management of the overall access control systems at the University. This position requires learning and understanding the multiple access control database systems including lock and keying systems used on campus as well as the computerized data access control systems and technologies used to support them.  In addition, the position will assist with maintaining the surveillance camera systems that are utilized throughout the campus. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Access Control Supervisor.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Enters student and faculty/staff data into the access control system for both on-line and stand-alone access units
  • Performs regular data base management functions – reviewing, updating, and/or deleting system records
  • Reviews e-mail and access control work orders on a daily basis and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Conducts follow-up reviews with department directors/managers in order to retrieve University keys from faculty/staff that have terminated employment with the university or moved to other departments
  • Operate and review camera surveillance system footage when requests are received to investigate possible problems and complaints
  • Assists with the management of the University key system that includes making, issuing and tracking keys as well as preparing and installing lock cores
  • Generate reports as requested using data from key system, access control system, and/or camera surveillance system
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Access Control Supervisor.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent education and two (2) years of experience in computer technology with experience working with data base software
  • Must be familiar with using standard computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel and be able to learn and become proficient with other computer software systems as necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to become proficient in utilizing the University key record tracking system
  • Must be able to become proficient with using all aspects of the University access control system
  • Must be able to become proficient with using all aspects of the University camera surveillance system
  • Must be able to successfully attend and complete special training programs on access control/surveillance systems and apply knowledge to our campus equipment and facilities

  • Supervise and manage the Parent and Volunteer Programming Coordinator providing clear goals, objectives, and increasing the quality of the programming.
  • Develop and implement a student philanthropy program to broadly educate Cedarville students about philanthropy, and to specifically engage students’ interest in giving to Cedarville as alumni. This plan will include programming that covers each of the four years a student is on campus.
  • Supervise the planning and implementation of Cedarville’s annual Homecoming and Family Weekend. Includes overseeing a committee of University staff and confirming a consistent message as well as fundraising initiatives. 
  • Maintain and implement a senior student programming strategy to help transition a Cedarville student to an alum. This includes the Senior Gift program. 
  • Assist advising the alumni student organization Delta Alpha Epsilon (DAE)
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required.  Preferred fields of study include business, communications, management, or marketing.  Cedarville graduate preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information, evaluation options, and implement effective actions steps to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks simultaneously, coordinate the roles of various participants in projects, set priorities and schedules, and meet deadlines with a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to facilitate mutual understanding and work effectively with a wide variety of people including: faculty, administrative staff, development colleagues, donors, students, alumni, and friends of the university.

Athletic Grounds Specialist,  Athletic Grounds

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a full-time, 12 month, non-exempt position of Athletic Grounds Specialist.  The specialist performs skilled and unskilled turf and landscape maintenance of all Athletic fields. This position operates to maintain essential equipment in working order. In addition this position will require the individual to work with various coaching staff to prepare for sporting events.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
 
  • Responsible for all turf maintenance projects: mowing, seeding, fertilizing, weed and  insect identification
  • Repairs irrigation systems
  • Operates equipment such as mowers, trenchers, sod cutters, edgers, weed trimmers, aerators, fertilizer spreaders, sprayers, and any other equipment necessary.
  • Perform maintenance, (grease, change blades, etc.) on all grounds equipment.
  • Maintain landscape areas.
  • Knowledge and ability to prepare and detail venues for practice sessions, games, meets, and match competitions.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations.
  • Will assist in the operation of facilities during home events
  • During the “off-season” will work with and support the University grounds department performing equipment maintenance, trimming/cutting trees, snow removal and salting roads and sidewalks, etc.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Commercial Applicator Pesticide License either current or anticipated.
  • Prior experience on grounds equipment required.  Training procedure required on all equipment and vehicles. Complete list of equipment and training approval on file
  • Prior experience in turf management and athletic field maintenance preferred.
  • Skill in working with turf and landscape materials.

Position Responsibilities:
Vacuum offices, hallways, stairs and classrooms
Dust bookshelves and other office/ classroom furniture
Organize lounge and waiting room reading materials
Clean glass doors, desktops, mirrors and windows
Remove all trash and recyclables from designated areas
Mop restrooms and hard floors; unplug clogged toilets and drains as needed
Make minor repairs or report to maintenance any problems noticed in assigned area
Clean residence hall restrooms including showers, toilet areas, sinks and countertops
Set classroom furniture as required
 
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Custodial Services experience preferred
Ability to think analytically and operate under established procedures and practices
Ability to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to light chemical substances

The Cedarville University Centennial Library is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Humanities Librarian assisting the students and faculty of the humanities programs (Art, Design, and Theatre; English, Literature, and Modern Languages; History and Government; Music and Worship) plus Communication.

Primary responsibilities include contributing to the development and delivery of library's   First Year Instruction program, research and information services, as well as individual research assistance, with a special focus on undergraduate humanities majors and faculty.

Plumber, Department of Mechanicals

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Plumber in the Mechanicals Department. This is a full-time, non-exempt, 12 month (2080) position. Primary job duties include maintaining and repairing the campus water system and its related elements which would include caring for any water or waste bearing pipes, water treatment plant service, as well as federal and state Environmental Protection Agency regulations regarding the treatment plant. Maintain and repair water related equipment such as disposals, the dish machine, and water softeners.

  • Preventive maintenance on pipes and equipment
  • Analyze water for treatment
  • Prepare water operators logs and EPA reports

Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree or completion of a technical specialty program (18 to 36 months)
  • At least three years’ experience working with an experienced plumber or as a lead plumber
  • Within 18 months must obtain Ohio DOT or OEPA certification in Backflow Prevention testing
  • Within 4 years must obtain Level 1 Water Plant Operator license
  • Must possess valid Ohio driver license 
  • Must possess adequate hand tools equal to responsibility
