Position Description:

Cedarville University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Library Science to serve as a STEM/Business Librarian.  This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position within the University’s Centennial Library reporting to the Director of Library Public Services.  Possessing a STEM or business education along with a library degree, the STEM/Business Librarian will contribute to the development and delivery of library instruction services, research and information services, and individual research assistance, with special focus on undergraduate and graduate business, engineering, computer science, mathematics, and science students and faculty.  

The STEM/Business Librarian will accomplish this by providing expert and innovative research support to students and faculty in the STEM and Business programs and by working with STEM and Business faculty to deliver an effective information literacy instruction strategy.  He or she will also seek to implement collaborative partnerships with the STEM and Business programs.  Working collaboratively as part of the library’s research team, the STEM/Business Librarian will help deliver research support services to all students and assist with the effective implementation of innovative library technology, online tools, and digital services.

The successful candidate will possess an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree and a minimum of three years of relevant academic library experience. The successful candidate will also be an excellent classroom communicator, be conversant with relevant research methodologies, possess an academic degree in a STEM or Business field, and demonstrate the ability to engage in proactive, creative outreach.

Qualifications:

  • Able to communicate clearly for the purpose of training others in the use of equipment.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings and fabricate parts, both metal and wood, from drawings.
  • Knowledgeable of machine-shop equipment and ability to diagnose and maintain such equipment.
  • Possess valid driver's license and able to operate vehicles with trailers in tow. 

Required Mental and Physical Abilities

  • Ability to receive and give detailed information through oral communications.
  • Ability lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Staff: Enrollment Management - Director of College Now

Cedarville University is seeking a Director of College Now to provide strategic leadership and vision to the College Now team.  This position is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Effectively recruit students to, and achieve enrollment goals for, the University’s College Now dual enrollment program within appropriate Ohio College Credit Plus (CCP) parameters.
  2. Build, lead, train, encourage, and motivate a successful team through encouragement, modeling, and feedback. 
  3. In coordination with the academic division, assure that team members are equipped to provide academic advising to College Now students (new and continuing).
  4. Oversee an effective communication plan that builds relationships with prospective College Now students and families and encourages action.
  5. Pursue strategies, programs, and resources that will benefit recruitment. 
  6. Serve as the point person for the recruitment of homeschool students to the University:
    1. Manage and navigate the University’s involvement in various homeschool conferences including GREAT, Teach Them Diligently, and others as required.
    2. Work with other departments and divisions as necessary to coordinate efforts related to homeschool recruitment.
  7. Represent the University at recruitment-related functions.
  8. Foster relationships with key influencers such as secondary school leaders, church leaders, and alumni.
  9. Manage the University’s continued compliance with CCP:
    1. Implement policy changes to comply with new state regulations
    2. Lead negotiations for funding agreements with participating high schools
    3. Develop CCP pathways with participating high schools
  10. Manage the College Now recruitment budget.
  11. Follow NCAA rules and regulations in the recruitment of student athletes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • 3-4 years of experience and proven success in sales management, marketing, and/or recruiting.  Academic advising experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Excellent skills in organization, leadership, sales, communication, time management and customer services
  • Must possess excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Must be energetic, creative, flexible, dependable, resilient, tactful and competitive
  • Experience in telemarketing, social media, and use of CRM software is preferred

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Colleague Administrator/Developer in the Information Technology Department.  The primary role of this position is to manage the databases and systems that comprise and support the Colleague enterprise information system.  This is an exempt, full-time position that reports to the Assistant Chief Information Officer. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Perform database administration activities including monitoring, performance tuning, SQL tuning, database backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data replication and database refresh of the SQL databases underlying the Colleague ERP system
  • Coordinate and implement upgrades to Colleague’s databases and applications
  • Work with vendor support centers for solutions to issues and problems
  • Manage user accounts within the Colleague ERP system, assigning the appropriate access and user level security
  • Develop and enforce security guidelines for production database access
  • Develop and test plans for complete disaster recovery lifecycle

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position works as a team member performing assigned tasks and taking proper initiative to resolve user issues including the following: 

  • Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools including, where appropriate, handover to the client. Conducts tests, corrects malfunctions, and documents results in accordance with agreed procedures. Reports details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated. Provides assistance to users in a professional manner following agreed procedures for further help or escalation. Reviews change requests. Maintains accurate records of user requests, contact details and outcomes. Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards
  • Identifies and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.
  • Prioritizes and diagnoses incidents according to agreed procedures. Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution. Escalates unresolved incidents. Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents. Documents and closes resolved incidents according to agreed procedures.
  • Applies tools, techniques and processes to track, log and correct information related to configuration items. Verifies and approves changes ensuring protection of assets and components from unauthorized change, diversion and inappropriate use. Ensures that users comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates. Performs audits to check the accuracy of information and undertakes any necessary corrective action under direction.
  • Assists in investigation and resolution of network problems. Assists with specified maintenance procedures.
  • Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.

Staff: Physical Plant - Manager of General Building Maintenance

Cedarville University is seeking a Manager of Building Maintenance to assess, develop, coordinate and supervise the maintenance of all University buildings.  This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position that reports to the Associate Vice President for Operations. This position has been designated as emergency essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Inspects and evaluates the condition of buildings for maintenance issues that need to be addressed to insure established standards are maintained.
  2. Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule and a predictive maintenance schedule for all building systems and components across campus.
  3. Manage the operation, maintenance and repair of all University buildings including academic, administrative and utility buildings and residence halls.
  4. Oversee all University structural assets and building systems including
    1. Building envelope systems (brick, EIFS, steel, etc.)
    2. Building interior systems (drywall, ceilings, flooring, windows, doors, etc.)
    3. Building finishing systems (window treatments, accessories)
    4. ADA-applicable systems (grab-rails, openers, closers)
    5. University pest-control actions and activities
  5. Manage and support the general maintenance team and assist them in the field when needed.
  6. Manage the work order process for the general maintenance department – evaluating and assigning all general maintenance work orders.
  7. Responsible to research materials needed to complete repairs and projects in the identified trades areas and manage the purchase process for the department.
  8. Responsible for assisting the AVP of Operations on renovation and new construction projects including bidding, sourcing and on-site project management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ten (10) years of experience in at least one specialty/trade of the maintenance department and demonstrated experience in construction, construction management or architecture, OR
  2. Ten (10) years of experience in architecture, construction management or a related field and demonstrated experience in at least one of the general trades (carpentry, construction, etc.)
  3. Preference given to those with three (3) years of experience in finish carpentry and / or wood finishing.
  4. Ability to:
    1. Develop a written project scopes,
    2. Develop project cost estimates and schedules,
    3. Read and understand blueprints.
  5. Experience with various types of carpentry power tools and hand tools.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff and student workers.
  7. Must possess valid OH driver’s license.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL/MENTAL ABILITIES: 

  1. Work requires routine application of established procedures and practices where basic analytic ability is required.
  2. Heavy work; considerable physical exertion required, occasional lifting or carrying of objects (up to 100 pounds) and regular lifting or carrying of objects up to 50 pounds.
  3. Frequent exposure to extreme levels of temperature, air pollution, noise, chemical substances or hazardous conditions.
  4. Work deals with machines such as power tools (drills, saws, sanders, presses) or tools where the seeing job is within arms-reach. This would also include the ability to operate motor vehicles involved in transportation to and from the various job sites.
  5. Climbing, balancing, lifting, reaching, stooping, grasping, repetitive motions, and pushing, pulling, talking, and hearing.

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Director of Program Improvement & Accreditation who will provide administrative oversight for and program-wide integration of the School’s Assessment Plan.This is a part-time (1440 annual hours), non-exempt, 12-month position that reports to the Dean of the School of Education. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Serve as the academic quality assurance officer within the School of Education.
  • Responsible for the alignment of school-wide outcomes, curriculum maps, assessment activities and communications/inputs that facilitate continuous quality improvement.
  • Lead faculty, staff and student development efforts aimed at understanding and implementing the School’s Assessment Plan.
  • Provide teaching support for assessment-related concepts required for graduation.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the School of Education Assessment and Curriculum Committees.
  • Communication of assessment data to appropriate bodies within the School and the University (e.g., Director of Teacher Education Services, Coordinator of Testing, Licensure& Accreditation, Program Coordinators, Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) faculty) as well as to appropriate international, national, regional, state & local outside stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative oversight for activities necessary to ensure the School of Education meets the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standards for the Educator Preparation Program (EPP).
  • Work with the University Office of Assessment Services to ensure that the School of Education positively contributes to the process of University Accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission.
  • Coordinate accreditation & assessment efforts of the EPP faculty with various programs across the University to ensure appropriate documentation and communication to all stakeholders.
  • Serve as the School’s liaison with the Registrar’s Office regarding management of the School’s content in the University’s Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs, and degree-audit system.
  • Understand the function and expectations of all the Specific Accreditation bodies: ACSI, NCATE, CAEP, AACTE and Title II, HLC, ODE, OBR  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Plan and execute assessment/accreditation activities
  • Interpret data derived from assessment/accreditation tools through statistical analysis
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Organize workload in order to assure timely completion of multiple tasks
  • Function effectively and efficiently with the administrative team, faculty and staff to facilitate accreditation/assessment plan
  • Operate basic computer programs and statistical software including web-based accreditation/assessment tools
