Accounting Student Experiences

Cedarville’s accounting major affords students many opportunities to serve in professional organizations, student organizations, and internships in relevant career fields.

Integrated Business Core

In today’s business world, coursework and GPA often isn’t enough to land students their dream job. Employers want to see experience. Cedarville University’s Integrated Business Core (IBC) is a semester-long program that provides students the opportunity to integrate classroom learning with practical business experience. Marketing, management, and finance classes combine with a practicum where students work in a strategic business unit to develop and market products. In one fast-paced semester, students develop a product and business plan, borrow money, and bring their products to market. Cedarville is the only Christian university that offers this kind of program to business students.

Internships

It helps to have an edge. And while Cedarville University students receive world-class instruction from their professors as they prepare to pursue careers in their chosen fields, the wise collegian knows that a degree and a good GPA simply aren't enough in an increasingly competitive job market. To succeed, they need real life, hands-on experience.

Enter internships... or more precisely, "discipline-related experiences." Jeff Reep, Director of Career Services, stresses the importance of these short-term forays into the professional world. "A student who graduates with only a degree is at a disadvantage," he explains. "They'll be competing against other graduates who have had two or even three internships."

Take a look at the exciting discipline-related experiences our accounting students have enjoyed.
