General Education Core

Academics About General Education Core

As an undergraduate student, your degree program will be built on a core group of general education courses. These courses are designed to give you a well-rounded education that includes Bible, arts and humanities, math and sciences, foreign language, and more. They'll help you develop core skills — like communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving — that you’ll use later within your chosen major program. These important skills add real value to your degree and set you apart from others as you enter the workforce.

The following components make up the general education core:

  • Study Skills Requirement (0-1 hours) - if needed; this requirement is determined based on academic background.
  • English and Math Proficiency (0-6 hours) - if needed; this requirement is based on demonstrating proficiency through standardized test score or previous coursework.
  • Biblical Education (15 hours)
  • Communication (6 hours)
  • Humanities (9 hours)
  • Global Awareness - may be satisfied through prior foreign language or select course options.
  • Physical Education (2 hours)
  • Science and Mathematics (10-16 hours)
  • Social Sciences and History (9 hours)
