Matthew Black ’26
Broadcasting, Digital Media, and Journalism

During his first year at Cedarville, Matthew Black ’26 connected with alumnus Parker Adams ’14, the film editor of Ordinary Angels (2024), Unsung Hero (2024), and The Unbreakable Boy (2025). Parker helped Matthew get jobs as an assistant editor on the concert film For King & Country: Little Drummer Boy (2024) and a marketing videographer and additional camera operator for season two of House of David (2025).

These opportunities gave him early, hands-on experience in professional production environments while still a student. 

Student Film Festival Selection

Megan Tuggy ’26
Broadcasting, Digital Media, and Journalism

Megan Tuggy ’26 wrote and directed the short film “Crickets” (2025) for BRDM 4320: Directing the Narrative Film. The film was entered into multiple film festivals around the country and was an Official Selection at the 2025 Maumee Film Festival in Ohio and the 2025 Redeem TV Student Film Festival.

Her work reflects how classroom projects can develop into portfolio pieces with real industry recognition.

Abby Jo Thompson ’25 and Crissa Esse ’25
Professional Writing and Information Design

When The Gospel Coalition launched a worldwide essay competition focused on Gen Z, two Cedarville PWID students stood out among 217 submissions. Abby Jo Thompson earned first place for her essay “Gen Z Needs a Place at Your Kitchen Table,” and Crissa Esse placed second with “Faithful Pastors, You Matter to Your Youth.”

Both students developed their submissions through a combination of classroom training and personal conviction. Their writing reflects a shared focus on meaningful communication — addressing how Gen Z is shaped through authentic relationships, hospitality, and intentional investment.
