Bach's Literacy Series is a musical storytime for young children and their families or teachers. This year features the following stories:
- I Know a Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello, by Barbara S. Garriel; illustrations by John O'Brien, and music by Steven Winteregg. Published by Boyds Mills Press. I Know a Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello is a captivating introduction to the sights, shapes, and sounds of the instruments in the orchestra.
- Peter and the Wolf, story and music by Sergei Prokofiev, translated by Maria Carlson; illustrated by Charles Mikolaycak. Published by Penguin Random House. Peter and the Wolf is a timeless classic Russian tale of a brave young boy’s efforts to save his friends and community from a dangerous threat to their lives.
Join us on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2 pm. in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall. The Series features Cedarville’s University Orchestra directed by Prof. Carlos Elias, along with a guest appearance by Dr. Steven Winteregg. A musical “petting zoo” will follow the performance where children can meet the performers up close and examine the instruments. The event is free, and the first 50 families or classroom teachers who register will receive complimentary copies of both books. This is made possible by the generous support of the School of Education and the Department of Music and Worship. Because seating is limited, register early to secure your seats!
