Choral Miscellany Concert Features Variety

by Victoria Stearns, Public Relations Writer

The Cedarville University Department of Music and Worship will present the Choral Miscellany Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5-6 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall. The event will be directed by Lyle Anderson, Ph.D., senior professor of music.

"This one-hour concert will run the musical gamut,” said Anderson. “Stirring anthems, spirituals, POPS selections and Christian contemporary arrangements will edify, teach and entertain listeners through a broad spectrum of beautiful choral music.”

The concert features the 12-member vocal arts ensemble and the 50-member concert chorale. Through the years, the groups have produced two studio recordings and performed several larger works.

The vocal arts ensemble will perform several selections including “Give Me Jesus,” “Reap What You Sow,” “You'll Be in my Heart” and “I Can See Clearly Now.”

The concert chorale will perform “Springs in the Desert,” “Daniel in the Lion Den” and “Ancient Words” with “Amazing Grace.”

The program will also include an a cappella selection, along with performances from five pianists and four soloists.

Soloists include Matthew Crickard (freshman, Marysville, Ohio), Joshua Chase (senior, Jefferson, Ohio), Kelsey DePree (sophomore, Midland, Michigan) and Ashtyn Kaptein (sophomore, Jenison, Michigan).

Pianists are Audrey Rutt (sophomore, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania), Joellen Eades (sophomore, Dalton, Ohio), Christa Johnson (senior, Xenia, Ohio), Hannah Rinehart (junior, Galion, Ohio) and Rachel Stevenson (senior, Cedarville, Ohio).
