Las Americas Brings Classical Touch to Performance

by Rae McKee, Public Relations Writer

The Las Americas Piano Trio will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall at Cedarville University. The trio consists of Carlos Elias, professor of music at Cedarville University, Andrea Arese-Elias, a professional pianist, and Andra Padrichelli, principal cellist of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and adjunct instructor of music.

The performance will include “Elegy” by Joseph Suk, “Trio in G Major” by Mozart and “Trio in B-flat Major” by Franz Schubert. The trio originally formed at Colorado Mesa University, where Elias was the director of strings and orchestra. Elias and Arese-Elias, who have performed in venues around the world, were initially joined by Cameron Law as the cellist, but began working with Padrichelli after the couple moved to Cedarville in 2013.

Padrichelli, who has performed in a variety of places such as Los Angeles, Italy, Miami and New York, has been a great addition to the trio.

“I’ve loved the intimacy and transparency of this trio,” said Elias. “The camaraderie created and the mixture of personalities really shows in our music.”

The ensemble derived its name from the birthplace of all the performers, who represent Central, South and North America – Elias from El Salvador, Arese-Elias from Argentina and Padrichelli from Santa Barbara, California.
