LifeTech Conference combines technology and pro-life efforts

by Natalia Kirychuk, Public Relations Writer

For the first time, Cedarville University will host the annual LifeTech conference on Saturday, Sept. 16. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Stevens Student Center. It is open to the public and costs $60 for adults and $30 for students. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. Registration will be open until the day of the event.

LifeTech is an organization of engineers and software developers who come alongside those laboring for the right to life as they seek to expand the use of technology in the pro-life movement.

John Horvat II, vice president of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, serves as this year’s keynote speaker. Horvat is the author of the book “Return to Order,” and his writings have appeared worldwide in places including The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Post, TheBlaze, Fox News and The Washington Times. Each year, he gives more than 150 radio and TV interviews.

Cedarville speakers include Dr. Thomas Mach, vice president for academics; Dr. Dennis Sullivan, director for the Center for Bioethics; Dr. Nelson Henning, chair of the department of social work; and Stephanie Cailor, fourth-year professional pharmacy student.

“We are pleased to host LifeTech’s annual conference on the campus of Cedarville University because of our firm belief that life begins at conception and each life is precious and valuable to God,” said Mach. “Our commitment to life is a product of our commitment to the teaching of Scripture. We are happy to support this initiative to preserve and protect life amidst a culture that is increasingly losing touch with its value.”

“I'm excited about the LifeTech Conference as an opportunity for students and the public to learn more about the perils and ethical challenges of new developments in medicine,” said Sullivan. “Many of these developments fail to protect vulnerable persons, created in God's image. This conference will help those who attend to take a stand for the sanctity of human life.”

Other speakers are Seth Drayer, director of training for Created Equal; Dr. Derek Dorosky, associate professor of biology at Franciscan University of Steubenville; Denise Leipold, executive director of Right to Life; and Elaine Russo, director of pregnancy center partnerships for Heroic Media.
