Cedarville's work study program among best in nation

by Madi Cannon, Public Relations Writer

With many college students struggling with rising college costs, Cedarville University is dedicated to providing an affordable education by offering opportunities for campus employment. The Student Loan Report, a resource for student loan news, recently ranked Cedarville No. 58 out of the top 200 private schools in the nation offering federal work-study aid.

The Student Loan Report ranked the colleges and universities based on licensed data from Peterson’s Financial Aid. The study examined the number of federal work-study jobs available on campus and the average dollar compensation per federal work-study job.

More than 1,600 students work part-time jobs at Cedarville. Campus employment is available for all students, regardless of whether they qualify for federal aid.

“Work-study creates a sense of responsibility for the students to value their opportunity to study at Cedarville,” explained Kim Jenerette, executive director of financial aid. “It develops a better-rounded student, who will become a better-rounded individual in society.”

According to Jenerette, students who participate in work study on campus are more likely to graduate on time, earn higher grades, borrow less money and find a job sooner after graduation. They also learn valuable life skills, even within their field of study, that they can use in their future internships and careers.

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,963 undergraduate, graduate and online students in more than 100 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, strong graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings and leading student satisfaction ratings.
