Cedarville University hosts annual Missions Conference

Cedarville University will kick off spring semester with its annual Missions Conference January 9-11. The three-day event, held in the Dixon Ministry Center, will mobilize students to share the gospel around the world and to serve the vulnerable.

Ninety mission representatives from more than 40 mission agencies and organizations will participate in the conference, including SEND International, Cru, Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE), English Language Institute of China (ELIC) and Wycliffe Bible Translators.

“Cedarville University carries a wonderful legacy of mobilizing laborers for the gospel,” said Dr. Jon Wood, vice president for student life and Christian ministries. “During the missions conference, we will be encouraged to adopt God’s heart for the unreached peoples from every tribe, tongue and nation.”

Tony Merida, the founding pastor of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, will be the featured speaker. Merida will speak during the morning chapels at 10 a.m. and the evening sessions at 7 p.m. on January 9 and 10.

Merida serves as associate professor of preaching at Southeastern Baptist Seminary and has authored several books, including “Faithful Preaching,” “Orphanology” and “Ordinary: How to Turn the World Upside Down.”

“There is no one better than Tony Merida to provide students a vision for leveraging their university experience to reach the lost wherever they may go,” said Wood. “I am praying the Lord will use the missions conference to mobilize laborers for his harvest.”

ABWE missionary Jennifer DeKryger will conclude the conference in the 10 a.m. chapel on Thursday, January 11. DeKryger will share a testimony about her medical ministry at Hospital of Hope in Togo, where she currently serves with her four sons.

In addition to the plenary sessions, various workshops will be held throughout the three-day event. All sessions are free and open to the public. For more information about the Missions Conference, visit
