"Living Water" apologetics conference comes to Cedarville University

by Bethany Priest, Public Relations Writer

The Center for Biblical Apologetics and Public Christianity at Cedarville University will hold its second annual apologetics and worldview conference titled “Living Water: Living and Sharing the Gospel in a Sexually Broken World” on April 4, 2018.

Speakers Rosaria Butterfield and Sam Allberry will lead plenary sessions, and Cedarville Bible faculty will lead breakout sessions. The conference is a one-day event opening at 10 a.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center and ending at 8 p.m. Ministry leaders, church members, Cedarville students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

“The purpose of this conference is to present a biblical view of identity and sexuality in a winsome way that encourages and equips Christians to faithfully present Christ in our culture,” said Dr. Dan DeWitt, director of the Center for Biblical Apologetics and Public Christianity and associate professor at Cedarville University.

Butterfield is author of “The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert,” and “Openness Unhindered,” two books that discuss and disclose Butterfield’s journey from “leftist professor in a committed lesbian relationship” to a “now confessional Christian.” Butterfield was a tenured professor of English and women’s studies at Syracuse University and is now a wife, homeschooling mother, author and speaker.

Allberry, the second conference speaker, is a pastor based in Maidenhead, UK, an international speaker with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries and is currently a visiting professor at Cedarville University. He is the author of “Is God Anti-Gay?,” founding editor of “Living Out,” a ministry for those struggling with same-sex attraction, and last year addressed the Church of England General Synod on the topic.

“There is a constant need for Christians to articulate what we believe the Bible has to say to issues of our time,” said DeWitt, “and we hope people take away what the Bible has to say about our identity, our brokenness, God's design for sexuality and how we can find forgiveness, hope, and help living in a fallen world”.
