Dr. Ray Ortlund, Jr., president of Renewal Ministries and Gospel Coalition council member, will speak in chapel at Cedarville University on Tuesday, August 28.

Ortlund currently serves as senior pastor at Immanuel Church in Nashville, Tennessee. As a council member for the Gospel Coalition, he blogs on its website and frequent speaks on the coalition’s behalf. Ortlund has published eight books including, “Marriage and the Mystery of the Gospel,” and “When God Comes to Church: A Biblical Model for Revival Today.” He served as an Old Testament translator for “The New Living Translation” and the “English Standard Version” of the Bible.

Ortlund inherited Renewal Ministries from his late father, Ray Sr., who founded the ministry in 1979. The ministry trains young Christian leaders and works to stimulate revival both nationally and internationally.

After graduating from Wheaton College, where he met his wife, Jani, Ortlund studied at Dallas Theological Seminary, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Jani and he have been serving in ministry together for more than 40 years and are both published authors. They have four children and thirteen grandchildren.
