Pharmacy Student Named to National Post

by Natalia Kirychuk, Student Public Relations Writer

Elizabeth Wandling, third-year professional pharmacy student from Davenport, Washington, has been named the new national project coordinator on the International Standing Committee with the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). Wandling will provide opportunities and resources for APhA-ASP chapters and organize international pharmacy events.

Throughout her time as a pharmacy student, Wandling has been interested in international pharmacy and has traveled to China and India to see how pharmacy is different in other cultures. She has also hosted international students from Slovenia who studied for several weeks at the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy through the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). For the past two years, she has served as the international vice president of the Cedarville University chapter of APhA-ASP.

"I love seeing how Elizabeth’s passion for international pharmacy ministry is such a driving factor in her life,” said Vineeta Rao, fourth-year professional pharmacy student from Indianapolis, Indiana and close friend of Wandling. “Over the last two years, I have seen Elizabeth own her leadership position as chapter international vice president by taking on bigger responsibilities and inspiring others to catch the vision for international pharmacy exchange. I couldn't be more proud of her, and I know that she will use this national position to inspire even more student pharmacists across the country.”

Wandling credits Cedarville for the many leadership positions she has enjoyed and grown from, including the pharmacy leadership society, Phi Lambda Sigma, that provides resources for younger students and recognizes leaders. She also served as the marketing chair and liaison of the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) Cedarville chapter.

“Students like Elizabeth really encompass our school goal of global service,” said Dr. Aleda Chen, assistant dean of the school of pharmacy. “She readily listens to others to learn from their experiences in the health care system, shows empathy toward all patients and seeks to promote health and the role of the pharmacist globally. I know she will serve well in this new opportunity. She has a passion for service and will bring great ideas and diligence to the committee.”
