One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

by Ella Smith, Student Public Relations Writer

A cue is a call to action, and that is exactly the mentality the Cedarville University entrepreneurship organization, CUE, seeks to have. Standing for Cedarville University Entrepreneurship, “CUE” has recently rebranded from the former Startup Society. They hope this change will start a new chapter for the student organization. “We want to make sure that this is an org that’s a melting pot of different majors. We don’t want to just be a business org,” said Annie Alexander, the president of CUE and a junior accounting major from Rochester, New York. “We want to have everyone so that everyone can bring their different strengths, skillsets and ideas to the table. Everyone has a different perspective on the world and on problems that people face. This melting pot goal is reflected in the org’s motto — Entrepreneurship is a mindset, not a minor.”

Beyond growing in the number and variety of majors, CUE also hopes to grow in other ways. CUE hosts two pitch events per semester. The Pitch offers a platform for students to present their business ideas. The Hackathon, an event in which students join a group and try to form as much of a business as they can in three days, is another similar event the group plans to offer this fall.

CUE now has weekly meetings on both Wednesdays and Fridays. Their hope is to connect with even more resources inside and outside Cedarville to create a network of Christian entrepreneurs.

“My long-term goal is for successful businesses to come out of the org and to start to create a network of entrepreneurs, whether that be students or alumni or any Christian entrepreneur who wants to be plugged in,” said Alexander.

Despite rebranding and changes in the org, CUE has still stayed true to its core passion for providing students with more entrepreneurship resources.
