August 5, 2024 — The Ohio National Guard will offer GuardCare, a readiness training program, to assist medically under-served communities on Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11 at the Greene County Career Center. The free-of-charge event is being sponsored by Greene County Public Health and supported by Dr. Angelia Mickle, Cedarville University Dean of the School of Nursing.

August 2, 2024 — While sitting in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), observing her newborn son and other premature babies fighting bravely for their lives, Melissa Gallagher was struck by the powerful truth the “these little ones were wonderfully made,” her words an echo of Psalm 139.

July 31, 2024 — A new men’s basketball coach with NCAA Division I experience has been hired by Cedarville University to lead the Yellow Jackets program. Rob Jones, most recently at Liberty University, has been selected as the next men’s basketball head coach at Cedarville.

July 31, 2024 — Insecurity in cyberspace is an international problem that has created mistrust in society and led to a growing need for security professionals who can provide online safety. Cedarville University is at the forefront of preparing future cybersecurity professionals through its partnership with the National Security Agency (NSA).

July 29, 2024 — Spring has brought a new addition to the Cedarville University School of Nursing: a cutting-edge childbirth simulator named “Victoria.” This high-fidelity manikin will enhance the hands-on learning experience for nursing students.

July 26, 2024 — Sports are Jeff Gilbert’s passion. What started as a hobby of cutting out sports stories from newspapers and magazines and crafting his own narrative for each story has blossomed into a thrilling career as the beat reporter for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and assistant professor of journalism at Cedarville University.

July 24, 2024 — Many Americans enjoy the services and convenience of the local pharmacies that fill their prescriptions and meet their medical needs, but the future abundance of pharmacies is unclear. In fact, “pharmacy deserts,” which are large areas with no pharmacy for communities to access, are becoming an increasing threat to public health. In an answer to this threat, Dr. Emmanuel Ayanjoke chose to pursue pharmacy ownership after completing his pharmacy fellowship in Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy.

July 22, 2024 — Football is the name of the game. It may look different for the Columbus Crew, a major league soccer club, and Penn State’s Big Ten Nittany Lions, but these powerhouse teams have something in common — both are hosting Cedarville University Master of Athletic Training (MAT) students for immersive clinical rotations.

July 19, 2024 — Growing up in the rural countryside near Lafayette, Indiana, Dr. Trent Rogers, the Dean of the School of Biblical and Theological Studies and Associate Professor of New Testament and Greek at Cedarville University, has always embraced the mindset of giving his best or not bothering at all.

July 17, 2024 — “Disciples in the Moonlight,” a faith-based action thriller that will be released in movie theaters nationwide on Wednesday, July 17, is breaking new ground in the Christian movie industry. The movie is a rare faith-based action thriller set in a dystopian future where the Bible has been banned in the United States for its offensiveness. The story was written by Josh Strychalski, a 1999 Cedarville University graduate who majored in broadcast communication.

July 15, 2024 — Students at Cedarville University spend approximately 1000 Days during their four years on campus. During this period, Dr. Thomas White, president, encourages each student to participate in a mission trip. Based on the feedback from other pharmacy students who had served in Guatemala on previous mission opportunities, Thomas Bonifield, a second-year pharmacy student, agreed to serve at a free, four-day clinic in Los Dolores, Guatemala. This experience transformed his perspective on medical care and spreading the gospel.

July 12, 2024 — How long would it take to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands near Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean Sea? “Team Foar Brothers,” including Cedarville alumni Thomas '05, Trent '02, and Tim Hamilton along with their nephew, Ben Clark, did it in 37 days, 10 hours, and 55 minutes.

July 10, 2024 — Cedarville University approved a new financial planning minor that will allow students to specialize and develop both competency and a character of integrity in their field. The new minor is available to any student. "We want to prepare students to not only think biblically but develop core competencies in the financial planning field. We want to prepare students who possess the character and professional aptitude to fulfill this need in society,” said Dr. John Tarwater, professor of finance.

July 8, 2024 — Success begins with great ideas. Dr. Kary Oberbrunner, Berry Chair and assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Cedarville University, encourages his students to generate, pitch and pursue ideas. Gladys Cerrato, a senior marketing major, responded by proposing the translation of Oberbrunner’s book, “Day Job to Dream Job,” into Spanish to expand his international influence.

July 5, 2024 — People move, life stages change, interests shift, and friendships fade or slip away. However, every now and then, two individuals develop an unbreakable bond and grow closer despite the ups and downs of life. A prime example of such a friendship is that of Cedarville University alumni Erika Weise and Carrie Holt, who are featured guests on the Cedarville Stories Podcast.

July 5, 2024 — Robert Rhodes ’16, worship pastor of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio, saved a video from his senior year of college and still watches it over eight years later. As he talked about it, the chills running through his body were almost palpable. “It gets me excited about what the Lord’s going to do when He calls us all home,” he said.

July 5, 2024 — For 40 years, Jim Cato ’83, Associate Vice President of Christian Ministries, has dedicated his life to music and ministry at Cedarville University. As he approached retirement this spring, Cato sat down with Cedarville Magazine to look back on his tenure.
