Emergency medical assistance is available for all persons receiving an injury/illness at the university on a 24 hour a day basis. The appropriate ambulance service (township or university squad) will respond by contacting 911. Medical intervention may not always be necessary, especially with incidents resulting in no apparent injury. The primary purpose of University Medical Services is to provide non-emergency services for the student population. If clinic staff are available they may be able to render basic first aid assistance (contact them prior to arrival) to faculty/staff or visitors, prior to triage to another medical care facility for more advanced follow-up treatment.
- Faculty/staff - who receive a work related injury/illness while on campus should report the matter to their supervisor immediately. Ambulance services may be contacted for immediate emergency medical assistance if necessary. For injuries that are less severe, the employee may be seen by a private physician or other medical provider such as an urgent care center. Coverage for medical expenses should be provided by Workers' Compensation Insurance (see statement under workers' compensation). For basic first aid services during regular business hours on a Monday - Friday basis, you may contact University Medical Services for possible services.
- Students - who receive an injury/illness may receive medical assistance at University Medical Services during regular
business hours. After regular hours or in the event of more severe situations, emergency medical assistance may be obtained
through the local ambulance services. Follow-up medical services may also be rendered through the university clinic.
Coverage for medical expenses should be provided by the students medical insurance plan.
In cases where the injury/illness occurred while the student was working at the university, coverage should then be provided under workers' compensation (see statement under workers' compensation).
- Visitors of other persons (contractors, vendors, etc.) - who receive any injury or illness on campus may receive emergency medical assistance, through the local ambulance services. Coverage for medical expenses would be provided by the individuals own medical insurance plan. For basis first aid services during regular business hours on a Monday - Friday basis, you may contact University Medical Services for possible services.
