Biography

Rich Stratton has spent the bulk of his professional career in service to the local church. He held the position of pastor for nearly 20 years before joining Cedarville University as Assistant Director of Public Relations.

Prior to Cedarville, Stratton served churches in Kentucky and Ohio, including First Baptist Church (Dixon, KY), Henderson’s First Baptist Church (Henderson, KY) ,and Brantwood Baptist Church (Dayton, OH). In addition to the role of senior pastor, he has worked as a minister of education, missions pastor, family equipping pastor, and executive pastor.

Stratton was no stranger to the field of public relations prior to his joining Cedarville University. As an undergraduate he worked in the office of public relations at Campbellsville University (Campbellsville, KY) and as executive pastor of Henderson’s First Baptist Church he was responsible for overseeing all branding, marketing, and communication.

He has also served as a staff writer for Kairos Journal, an online resource that equips pastors with the knowledge necessary to speak confidently about important public issues, and it was his work with Kairos Journal that led to his being published as a study notes contributor for the Thomas Nelson Unapologetic Study Bible.

Stratton currently serves as the teaching elder at Brantwood Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. He has also taught courses in theatre scenic design at Cedarville University as an Adjunct Instructor of Art, Design, and Theatre since 2022.

When not engaging in his work at Cedarville University or Brantwood Baptist Church, Stratton enjoys backpacking and has completed half of the nearly 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail.
