Cedarville Pharmacy Student Awarded Coveted Scholarship

The Dayton Area Society of Health-System Pharmacists (DASHP) awarded Jonathan Czyzewski, a second-year professional pharmacy student at Cedarville University, with one of its four $1,250 scholarships.

Czyzewski, from Centerville, Ohio, applied for the scholarship in December 2016. DASHP announced the recipients on May 4.

“My initial reaction was thankfulness,” said Czyzewski. “This scholarship came at a time of need. There was a gap in my budget for next semester, and this scholarship filled it. I was humbled by this experience.”

“I was excited that Jonathan was recognized for the scholarship,” said Dr. Melody Hartzler, associate professor of pharmacy practice. “Our student society of health-system pharmacists chapter enjoys having a great local association like DASHP so close by.  We have partnered on many recent events.  The members enjoy engaging and supporting our students."

Scholarships are funded by the annual DASHP symposium hosted by Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy. The symposium, held May 20, is open to current pharmacists and pharmacy students and includes sessions on Ohio law, pharmaceutical displays and networking opportunities.
