Cedarville University’s Paralympic gold medalist, Grace Norman, has been nominated for an ESPY award after her performance at the 2016 Paralympics. She is a finalist in the category for Best Female Athlete with a Disability.

Norman, a sophomore nursing major at Cedarville University, competed in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Not only did she win the first-ever PT4 triathlon and place third in the 400-meter run, but she claimed both medals within 36 hours of each other.

Sports network ESPN presents the ESPYs, or Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly awards, to recognize individual and team athletic achievement. Fan votes determine the winners, and fans can vote for Norman on the category voting page.

Norman will attend the ESPY awards in Los Angeles on July 12. The event will be aired live on ESPN.

Norman is currently training with her coach, Wes Johnson, and his team from Balanced Art Multisport (BAM) in Sandy, Utah. She has also been working with Olympic running coach Bobby McGee.

After the ESPYs, Norman will attend an elite paratriathlon camp on July 14 at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego. She will return to the International Triathlon Union (ITU) triathlon competition in Edmonton, Canada, on July 29. There, she hopes to qualify for the ITU World Triathlon Championship, which will be held September 14-17 in the Netherlands.
