Title IX and Cedarville University
Cedarville University is a Christ-centered institution of higher education that is committed to the biblical principle that all human beings are created in the image of God. Because of that belief, the University is committed to basing judgments concerning the admission, education, and employment of individuals upon their qualifications and abilities.
Cedarville University is also committed to maintaining and strengthening an educational, working, and living environment founded on the biblical principles of love and mutual respect. The University seeks to provide programs, activities, and an educational environment free from sex discrimination. In accordance with these beliefs, and consistent with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Cedarville does not discriminate on the basis of sex in education programs or activities, including recruitment, admissions, athletic and extracurricular activities, discipline, distribution of financial assistance, distribution of institutional resources, hiring practices, employment, and promotion. Title IX states:
"No person in the United states shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, or be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or any activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
The University is committed to promoting respect for the bodily integrity of all persons and the sacredness of human sexuality.
