Varied Learning Styles — Introduces you to many different piano teaching method series to equip you to teach to your students’ individual learning style.

Effective Teaching Methods — Prepares you to teach children, university students, and adults the most effective techniques, methods, and current computer and keyboard technology.

Apprenticeship Approach — Provides you guidance from a master teacher; apprenticeship is the key to our approach and to the pedagogy major’s success.

Well-Rounded — Instructs you in marketing, professional networking, maintaining a private studio, and completing the National Certification process, preparing you to begin a financially secure teaching career immediately following graduation.

Selective (audition required) — You will be accepted into the music program — and be eligible for a department scholarship — based on a successful audition with music faculty.

Opportunities to Learn Outside the Classroom

  • Adjudicate National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals and other competitions
  • Participate in our annual piano pedagogy seminar
  • Serve as paid accompanist for local churches
  • Serve as paid accompanist for school musicals and competitions
  • Serve as paid accompanist for vocalists and instrumentalists
  • Teach and work in area music stores

Soli Deo Gloria Music Scholarships

Cedarville University offers music scholarships of up to $6,000 per year for students majoring in music. You can combine your music scholarship with Cedarville’s other generous academic and need-based scholarships.
