He was called to plant churches in upstate South Carolina so that everyone has the chance to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. He then went on to explain how God wants to use us as His ambassadors to redeem the world, using II Corinthians 5 as his text.

They live on a home constructed on the Amazon River and minister to surrounding towns. Dr. Gary Phillips is pastor of Signal Mountain Bible Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He previously was a distinguished professor of Biblical studies at Bryan College, where he taught for twenty-four years and was Chairman of Biblical Studies. He holds degrees from Vanderbilt University, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Grace Theological Seminary. Dr. Phillips spoke on the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector found in Luke 18:9-14.
