Marketplace Missions the Focus of Panel

by Nicole Hackett, Student Public Relations Writer

Dr. Matt BennettCedarville University’s Center for Biblical Apologetics and Public Christianity, in partnership with the office for kingdom diversity, will present its final seminar of the calendar year, “Marketplace Missions,” on November 14 at 8-9 p.m. in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies, Room 104. This event is open to the public.

“Christians are told by Christ to take the gospel to the ends of the world,” said Dr. Dan DeWitt, director of the Center for Biblical Apologetics and Public Christianity and associate professor of applied theology and apologetics. “Anyone who wants to explore both the reasons for and the opportunities related to using business platforms to advance the gospel should attend.”

At the seminar, DeWitt will lead a discussion between Scott Dunford, an Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) representative, and Dr. Matt Bennett, assistant professor of missions and theology, both who have worked on the mission field through business ventures. Joining them will be Kyle Peterson, deputy director of the Beyond Entrepreneurship Accelerator program.

The seminar will start with a few introductory questions before it is opened to the audience.

“The panel will help to expose people, whose vocational pursuits might not be overtly related to ministry, to the fact that their skills and vocations can actually prove vital to the advance of the Gospel,” said Bennett. “We will help people to think through how business can be a compliment to missionary strategy.”
