Michael Mendel, PhD

Biography

Before joining the Cedarville biology faculty in 2016, Dr. Mike Mendel taught at a Christian University in central Ohio for 16 years.  Prior to that, he was employed for eleven years at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. At CU, Mike teaches zoology related courses and is interested in both vertebrates and invertebrates. Dr. Mendel serves as the co-advisor for Cedarville’s pre-vet student organization. Mike’s research interests include the study of environmental stressors on freshwater organisms as well as the distribution of black fly (Simuliidae) species in Ohio. Dr. Mendel is a member of the Society for Freshwater Science and the Association of Mid-Atlantic Aquatic Biologists.
