What are Student Communities?
Student Communities are non-residence hall housing options at Cedarville. They include:
- Cedarville Apartments
- Townhouses (Rooke and Gromacki)
- Cedar Park (married student housing)
- Graduate Housing (South and Harriman)
- Shrubsole House
Who is eligible to live in the Student Communities?
To live in Student Communities, students must be:
- Enrolled at Cedarville University
- Not a first-year freshman
To live in townhouses, apartments, or Shrubsole, students must be:
- Between 20 and 29 years old before the start of the fall semester
Where can I apply to live in the Student Communities?
Use the eRezLife portal to complete your Housing Application. Once submitted, you’ll be entered into the housing selection process and may choose your desired community.
How do I pay for Student Communities housing?
All Student Communities housing costs are billed per semester through the Cashiers’ Office and applied directly to your student account.
Will a security deposit be required?
No, deposits are not required. However, any damages or excessive cleaning charges will be billed to your student account.
What furniture is included?
Each community is furnished differently based on space and layout. Visit the Student Communities webpage for specific details on what furniture is provided in each Student Communities location.
What rules apply within the Student Communities?
All residents must review and agree to the Student Communities Handbook. You can find it on the Residence Life webpage.
Who do I contact for assistance?
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Residence Life at 937-766-7872 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you need immediate assistance, please call Campus Security at 937-239-6491, 24 hours a day. In case of an emergency, please call 911.
How many roommates can I have?
Room capacity varies by housing type:
- Townhouses: six beds
- Apartments: four beds
- Shrubsole: eleven beds
- Graduate Housing: nine beds per house
- Cedar Park: married couples only
Will pre-selection still be available in Student Communities?
Yes. If eligible, students may continue to remain in their current Student Communities with pre-selection.
How do married couples apply for Cedar Park?
Cedar Park is designated for married student housing. To apply, couples must be engaged with a confirmed wedding date and complete the standard Housing Application and the Married Student Housing Form. One spouse must be enrolled at Cedarville University.
There are 21 units available, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible applicants who do not secure a unit will be placed on a waiting list. A couple must be married when a unit becomes available to occupy the space, or they will stay on the waiting list and another married couple will occupy the available space.
How can graduate students apply for graduate housing?
Only graduate students may apply for South House (female students) or Harriman house (male students), each offering nine single rooms per house. Complete the standard Housing Application and submit the Graduate Housing Application Form.
Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis; additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
- Graduate students under age 26 may live in residence halls or Student Communities housing.
- Graduate students ages 26–29 may live in Student Communities housing.
- Graduate students ages 30 or older may live in Harriman Hall/South Hall (if single) or Cedar Park (if married).
What happens if there are no rooms available?
If Student Communities housing is full, students should explore residence hall options. Overflow or triple-room arrangements will not be available in Student Communities.
What is a freshman cohort, and why can’t they live in Student Communities?
Living on campus in a residence hall is one of the most impactful parts of your Cedarville experience. All first-year freshman students are required to live in the residence halls.
