Group Exercise Classes

  • Classes will be FREE of charge and on a first come, first serve basis.

Basketball (5v5)

  • Registration Dates: December 4 – 1
  • Play Begins: January 17
  • Format: All men's teams will play pool play (3–5 round robin games first) with the top teams entering a combined single elimination tournament to determine the overall championship team. The women will either play pool play and then a playoff (if there are more than 7 teams) or a simple round robin format within one league (with the team with the best record being declared the championship team).
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 6, Maximum – 12, During Play – 5
    • No more than two ex-varsity or JV basketball players on any one team*. See below for more details.
  • Officials: There will be one score keeper and two game officials provided for each game. Those interested in becoming an intramural 5v5 basketball game official should plan to attend both of the following clinics: Clinic 1 will be held Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m. in CAL 203, and Clinic 2 will be held Saturday, January 14 at 10:00 am in CAL 203. Those who are interested in becoming an intramural basketball scorekeeper should plan to attend the Score Keeper's meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 1 at 7 p.m. in CAL 203.
  • Divisions:
    • Women's (open – no difference in skill between leagues)
    • Men's A (higher skill) and B (average skill)
  • Scheduling: When signing up for a team, please indicate your team's top three playing days and times as well as your team's conflicts. The earlier you sign up, the better your chances will be to play at your most preferred day/time.

Intramural Handbook information regarding Ex-Varsity and JV Basketball Players:

  1. A student who is a member of any intercollegiate varsity athletic team, or who is red-shirting for a varsity team, or who at one time during the school year was a member of a varsity team and has been declared academically ineligible, or is working out (practicing) with a varsity team and continues to do so past that team’s first regular season game (including transfer students), is not eligible to participate in the same, or similar intramural sport during the academic year in which they are so listed.
  2. A student who is a member of any junior varsity (JV) intercollegiate athletic team, or who at one time during the school year was a member of a JV team and has been declared academically ineligible, or is working out (practicing) with a JV team and continues to do so past that team’s first regular season game (including transfer students), is not eligible to participate in the same, or similar intramural sport during the semester in which they are so listed. Once a player finishes his JV season in the fall (i.e., basketball, volleyball, soccer) and does not move up to the varsity squad, he/she may participate in the same or similar intramural sport the following semester (spring).
  3. Former intercollegiate Varsity athletes may participate the year following their intercollegiate involvement. Former intercollegiate JV athletes may participate the semester following their intercollegiate JV involvement. Any one intramural team is limited to the following number of former varsity and JV players:
    • Basketball - no more than 2 ex Varsity * or JV players on an intramural team.

* Players who were considered "starters" and started at least half of the games on a varsity team will count as two ex-players

Wallyball

  • Registration Dates: December 4 – 15
  • Play Begins: January 17
  • Format: The format will be determined by the number of teams entered. If there are only enough teams for one league (4 – 8), we will simply play a round robin format (the team with the best record will be declared the champions). If we have enough teams for multiple leagues (more than 8), the format will include pool play and a playoff among the top four teams.
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 4, Maximum – 8, During Play – 4
  • Officials: Officials will not be provided. Players will call their own matches.
  • Scheduling: Since we typically have less than 8 teams sign up per gender for wallyball, only one choice has been listed for each.
  • Team Roster Limitations: See below.

  • Registration Dates: February 19 – 23
  • Event Date: Saturday, February 25
    • Men's Tournament: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    • Women's Tournament: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Format: We'll play a double elimination tournament format (if possible) for each gender. Specific format and guidelines will be sent out to participants Friday, February 24.

Dodgeball Leagues

  • Registration Dates: February 26 – March 3
  • Starting Date: Monday, March 13
  • Scheduling: When signing up a team, please indicate your teams top three playing days and times as well as your team’s conflicts. The earlier you sign up, the better your chances will be to play at your most preferred day/time.
  • Number of players per team: 6 – 10 players per team. Six players will compete on a side. Others will be available as substitutes.
  • Format: The format will most likely include a round robin pool play with a single elimination tournament at the end to the determine the overall champion.

  • Officials: There will be two officials provided per game.
  • Eligibility: Current year intercollegiate varsity soccer players are ineligible to participate.
  • Limitations: Each team is limited to no more than two players who either played for the varsity team in the past or the JV team in the past (including fall 2022 participants). A starter on the varsity team within the last two years counts as two ex-varsity players. See Handbook for more details!
  • Scheduling: When signing up a team, please indicate your team’s top three playing days and times as well as your team’s conflicts. The earlier you sign up, the better your chances will be to play at your most preferred day/time.

  • Limitations: No more than four ultimate team members (either current year or past years) can play on any one intramural ultimate team.
  • Scheduling: When signing up a team, find out from your teammates which days and times would work out best and indicate your team’s three most preferred days/time to play along with your team’s major conflicts (when your team will be unable to play).

Doubles Disc Golf League

  • Registration Dates: March 12 – 18
  • Play Begins: March 27
  • Format: This will be a “Best Shot Scramble” with both partners throwing from the previous best shots (tee to basket). We will play four – 18 basket rounds (one round each week for four weeks) and take the combined score from all four rounds to determine the championship team.
  • Divisions: Open – Teams can be made up of either two males, two females or one of each. The women will throw from the short tees and the men will throw from the long tees.
  • Scheduling: Everyone signing up must be able to play on the following four Wednesdays at either 4:15 or 5:15 p.m.:

Young’s Bike Ride 2

  • Registration Dates: March 26 – 30
  • Event Date: April 1
  • Event Start Time: 1 p.m.
  • Event Description:
    • Approximately an 18 – 20 mile bike ride starting at the fitness center
    • Route over to Young's...
      • Cedarville–Yellow Springs Rd – L on Conley Rd
      • R on Tarbox Cemetery Rd – Wilberforce–Clifton Rd
      • To Grinnell Rd to the bike path in Yellow Springs
      • The bike path up to W. Jackson Rd. over to St. Rt. 68
      • Down to Young's
    • Return route...
      • Bike path to Grinnell to Wilberforce–Clifton to Cedarville–Yellow Springs and to campus
    • We'll have several groups riding at different speeds so that each person can ride at an appropriate pace for them. A support truck will be provided.
    • Young’s ice cream will be available to all those who pre-register by midnight on Thursday and complete ride on Saturday.

  • Registration Dates: April 3 – 13
  • Play Begins: April 15
  • Format: This will be a one-day event held Saturday, April 15. The format will depend on the number of registrants. The plan is to play pool play, leading to single elimination playoffs for both genders. Participants should be free to play between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Officials: Officials will not be provided for matches. Participants are to call their own matches.

Golf: 4 Man Scramble (1 Day)

  • Registration Dates: April 3 – 13
  • Format: Four Player Scramble
  • Playing Date: Friday, April 21
  • Location: Locust Hills Golf Course
  • Cost: $10 per student & Fac/Staff member (includes ride cart for nine holes)
  • Sign Up: Stop by the Rec Center Control Desk during the afternoon or evening hours, pay the fee and sign up for a tee time.
  • Tee Times: 3:30 – 5 p.m.
  • Students who have played on the varsity golf team this year are ineligible to participate. Four-man teams are limited to one past varsity golfer.
