Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

The Ohio College Opportunity Grant is for students who attend both public and private non-profit colleges or universities. 2026-27 OCOG criteria and amounts will be determined by the Ohio legislature when the annual budget is finalized in the summer of 2026. Therefore, below you will find the current 2025-26 year OCOG information.

For Cedarville students in the current 2025-26 year, this annual grant is $5,000 (for full-time enrollment) and is awarded as follows:

Current Criteria for the 2025–26 academic year:

  • FAFSA Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation of 3,750 or less
  • Maximum Household Income of $96,000 (calculated using FAFSA reported data)
    • Dependent Students: this includes both parental and student income data elements
    • Independent Students: this includes income elements for the student and spouse (if married)
  • Meet Ohio residency requirement
    • Dependent Students: residency is determined by parent information
    • Independent Students: must have been an Ohio resident for at least one year, or meet other residency requirements
    • Ohio Residency Requirements ORC 3333.1.10

Application:

The 2026-27 FAFSA is the application for this Ohio need-based grant. NOTE: the student's initial 2026-27 FAFSA must be received by October 1st each year.

Award:

For the current 2025-26 year the annual award amount for students enrolled full-time is $5,000 ($2,500 per semester). The OCOG is awarded based upon the student’s enrollment status for each eligible term.

Funding:

The above award amounts are based upon state funding levels and aid policy. Award amounts are subject to change as the state legislature has the authority to adjust award amounts based upon ongoing budget reviews.

Renewable:

To obtain an Ohio College Opportunity Grant, the student must complete the FAFSA and meet all eligibility requirements established by ODHE (Ohio Department of Higher Education) for that specific academic year. In addition, a student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and must meet all other eligibility requirements.
