The Secret to Impact — 9/28/2010
This is Alumni Week in chapel. Dan Barfell is the Senior Pastor of Parma Heights Baptist Church in Parma Heights, Ohio (www.phbaptist.org), and a 1985 graduate of Cedarville University. The message comes from Luke 5, which is the story of Jesus calling Peter to follow Him. Peter first gives Jesus command of his boat, and then gives Him command of his life, which Pastor Barfell says is the secret to having an impactful life.
Real-World Impact, One Step at a Time — 9/27/2010
This is Alumni Week in chapel. Jeff Woodcock is a 1972 graduate of Cedarville University. Mr. Woodcock serves as the Head Master of Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, California (www.oakschristian.org). Jeff shared memories during his time at Cedarville, as well as experiences in his various teaching and administrative roles in both public and Christian schools.
The Parable of the Sower — 9/23/2010
David Mason is the Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church of the Deaf in Columbus, Ohio (www.libertybaptistdeafchurch.org). He signed his message, and it was interpreted by Sharon Bordean. Pastor Mason spoke on The Parable of the Sower from Luke 8:4-15. He encouraged the Cedarville students to look at their time in college as training for when they go out into the world to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He also reminded them to be looking for opportunities to minister to the deaf and hearing impaired people around them, and to be involved in giving the Gospel to them, as well.
Living the Message: Three Pictures — 9/21/2010
Dr. Bill Brown is the President of Cedarville University. In this message, Dr. Brown gives three pictures the Apostle Paul is sharing with the Colossian believers. They were being swayed by false teachers, and Paul is trying to set them straight. The first picture is that they have been relocated from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light. They have also been reconciled--they were once alienated from God, but now are without blemish. Thirdly, they have been resurrected, or made alive with Christ.
Quitting the Mob — 9/20/2010
Michael Franzese joined the Colombo crime family in New York City at an early age. He made the Mafia a lot of money through many business ventures, some of which were illegal. He eventually pleaded guilty to racketeering, counterfeiting and extortion charges, and spent several years in prison. He fell in love with a young lady who he later married, and it was her influence that led him to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as his Savior. He left organized crime, and now speaks to thousands about his story of redemption.

From the Heart — 9/15/2010
Today's chapel is sponsored by Cedarville University's Student Life Division and is part of the 2010 Health Care Ethics Conference (www.cedarville.edu/bioethics2010). Gianna Jessen's mother tried to terminate her pregnancy in 1977 with a saline abortion. It was not successful. Gianna survived the abortion attempt, and despite having Cerebral Palsy as a result, has overcome numerous obstacles. Though doctors said Gianna would never walk or even be able to hold her head up, she has completed two full marathons. She is an outspoken proponent on the value of human life, both inside the womb and out.
The Message to the “Real World” — 9/14/2010
Dr. Bill Brown is the President of Cedarville University. In this message, he continues teaching from the text of Colossians 1:25 - 2:8. Our job is to bring the message of Jesus Christ to the world, for He is the focal point of all that exists. The message is for everyone, and it is hard work, for nothing worth doing is easy.
Strange As It May Seem — 9/13/2010
Pastor Bob Rohm is the Vice President of the Christian Ministries Division at Cedarville University. He shared a message from Habakkuk 1:1-11. He said a device Satan uses to undermine our faith in God is the question of why some things have happened in history. He specifically cited the examples of the Holocaust, the Killing Fields of Cambodia, and the AIDS epidemic. One is left wondering how God allows these things to happen. Habakkuk also had the same struggle in his day with what he saw happening to the nation of Judah. We must realize that history is under divine control, it follows a divine plan, it follows a divine time-table, and ultimately is all about the Kingdom of God.

The Mystery of the "Real World" — 9/7/2010
Dr. Bill Brown is the President of Cedarville University. In this message, he explains that in order to have an impact, we need to understand the real world. The only way to understand it is to have the key to the mystery, which is the person of Jesus Christ. Dr. Brown uses Colossians 1:25 - 2:8 to show how for centuries God was promising to redeem the world, and Christ was revealed as the answer to that.

This message was taken from Luke 10:38-42, which is the story of Jesus going to the home of Mary and Martha. Pastor Chris uses this story to encourage us to slow down, simplify, and listen to what Jesus is saying to us.
