Hiring & Compensation Requests
Supervisors should submit a UHR Hiring & Compensation Request form for the personnel needs represented below to ensure appropriate approvals are documented. Student-related hiring and compensation forms are located on the myCU website.
- Request a temporary employee
- Request a new faculty or staff position
- Change or replace an existing position (staff, faculty, temporary - position replacement or change in annual work hours, pay rate, funding source, job title, job description, organizational structure)
- Request extra duty pay or bonus may be requested using this Kuali form.
The UHR Hiring & Compensation Request provides a centralized process to document requests and approvals; it does not replace discussions with budget managers/supervisors and divisional Vice Presidents.
Depending on the request, the following documentation may be needed to complete the form:
- Job Description Template: Staff
- Job Description Template: Faculty Educator
- Job Description Template: Faculty Administrator
- Justification/Workforce Analysis: Justification Template
- Budget Details: a confirmation of funding or a Budget Transfer Form (access via myCU).
New Hires and Replacement Positions
- Once a hiring request is approved, UHR may post the position on Cedarville's website. Requests for additional advertising are funded from the hiring manager's budget and may be requested here.
- UHR conducts initial high-level screening of applicants. Applicant status and communication between UHR and the hiring manager are maintained in the Dayforce Recruiting module.
- The hiring manager selects candidates for screening and final interviews. Please reference Interview Guidelines. UHR is available to review University benefits with final eligible candidates. Hiring managers are encouraged to include UHR in these discussions. Deans should follow procedures outlined by the VPA to request approval to invite final faculty candidates to campus for interviews.
- The hiring manager checks candidate references.
- The hiring manager requests a background check from UHR in Dayforce. UHR will advise the hiring manager when the background check clears.
Offer and Onboarding Communication
- UHR will generate an offer letter after the hiring manager has appropriate divisional leadership approval. No verbal offers should be made.
- UHR will coordinate with the hiring manager to ensure that all non-selected candidates are notified.
- UHR will communicate onboarding steps after an offer is accepted.
