Street in Spain with people milling about

In today's post, Dr. Andrew Wiseman, Professor of Spanish and Director of International Programs, introduces some of the study abroad opportunities that will be available to your son or daughter as a Cedarville student, and he explains how they will add depth and breadth to a college education.

Dear Parents,

I am writing this letter to you from sunny Valencia, Spain, where a wonderful group of Cedarville students are learning and serving in Cedarville's Study Abroad in Spain program. Students attending Cedarville have the unique opportunity to spend a summer, semester, or a year on approved domestic and international programs, including our most popular sites in Valencia, Spain (Spanish language and culture) and Washington, D.C. (Center for Political Studies), as well as many others.

Studying off campus can be an enriching and vital part of your child's college education by enhancing learning in many ways — strengthening specific skills and broadening outlook and thinking, enlarging intercultural abilities and relationships, preparing for life in the global community, and deepening Christian commitment and service.

At Cedarville, our study abroad programs exist throughout the world and cover all majors. Traditionally, students study abroad during their junior or senior year; however, myriad options are available throughout the student's academic career. Many students participate in our international summer programs, where Cedarville University professors teach specific general education and advanced courses at off-campus sites. Please visit our International Programs webpage to view the list of study abroad opportunities!

Students participating in international programs are required to have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (some programs have higher requirements) and complete a Cedarville study abroad application. Informational meetings are held throughout the year and individual sessions can be set up through International Programs. As you consider your son or daughter studying at Cedarville next year, please encourage them to sign up for one (or more) of these life-changing experiences!

Blessings to you all,

Andrew S. Wiseman, Ph.D.
