The Synergy Initiative: Equipping Students to Plant Churches
Tuesday, March 21, 2023
In recent years, our nation has seen a dramatic decline in church attendance, and many churches have closed their doors for good. At Cedarville, we want to do something about this alarming trend. That’s why we were so excited this week to announce The Synergy Initiative, a new Center that will equip our students to invest their energies, talents, and efforts in planting, revitalizing, and multiplying churches. Students will have training and ministry opportunities while they are here, but the goal is to send them out after graduation in strategic and coordinated ways to make a difference for Christ in their local churches.
This is just one example of how Cedarville will prepare your student to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.
If your student has decided on Cedarville, be sure to pay your security deposit to secure his or her place for fall 2023!

Students Encouraged to Get Involved in a Local Church
Tuesday, March 14, 2023
Cedarville University is privileged to care for the spiritual growth of some of the best university-aged students on our planet. We take this charge very seriously.
One of the elements in the spiritual growth dynamic here at Cedarville is seeing to it, as best we are able, that each student connects with a local church. The years of their academic training could leave them separated from any type of effective fellowship with the body of Christ, except for what takes place within the boundaries of our campus. Chapel is exciting and distinctive to a Cedarville education, but it does not take the place of the local church.
Read today's post to learn more about local churches that students call home away from home.

Don't Let College Undermine Your Student's Faith
Thursday, January 19, 2023
Your student’s college years are critical to forming their worldview, and where they go matters. Will they choose a secular university with a humanistic worldview, a university that is Christian in name only, or a genuinely Christian university that will build upon the biblical worldview you have taught in your home? In a newly released video, Dr. Thomas White, President of Cedarville University, discusses how to prepare your student for this critical college decision. He shares questions to consider to make sure your student’s faith stays strong during the important college years. The video is long but well worth your time.

4 Reasons Why Teaching Creation at a Christian College Is Important
Thursday, January 12, 2023
When
it comes to their science departments, most Christian universities and colleges either ignore the issue of creation and Genesis altogether, or they promote theistic evolution or some other harmonization of Genesis. There are only a handful of schools
that believe that Genesis is historically accurate and forms a foundation for science, the Bible, and Christian education. In today's post, Dr. John Whitmore, Senior Professor of Geology at Cedarville University, shares four reasons why Cedarville holds
true to a biblical, literal six-day Creation, and why we always will.

How Important Is a University's Doctrinal Statement?
Tuesday, December 13, 2022
Like your local church, Christian colleges all have a statement of beliefs. As you research and visit different institutions with your student, how important is it to consider each college's doctrinal statement?
First, know that a doctrinal statement provides the general framework within which the university will be offering its education. It is a good idea to review the statements (most are posted online) to assure you are comfortable with the direction. If you have questions about what you read, this is a great opportunity to involve your pastor to provide insights.
Second, ask Christian universities if their faculty sign the doctrinal statement as a condition of employment. Not all do. Knowing that faculty will be teaching in line with the institution's stated beliefs provides a point of accountability to you as a parent. Are you comfortable that the faculty at the university will uphold the beliefs that are most important to your family?
Several years ago, we conducted a study related to parents' use of the Cedarville University website. We made an interesting — and candidly, unexpected —finding. Parents were more likely to search terms related to the University's doctrinal commitments and focus on spiritual growth than any other topics.
In today's post, you'll read about the importance of Cedarville's Doctrinal Statement and how it informs Cedarville's approach to Christ-centered higher education.
