Flexible Spending

The Internal Revenue Code Section 125 provides a way for you to pay certain medical expenses and/or dependent care expenses with BEFORE TAX DOLLARS, which is often called a "Flexible Spending Plan."

You are eligible to participate in Section 125 on your date of employment. To be eligible to participate, you must be employed in a regular nine-month to twelve-month position and scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week.

We now have made available a new electronic document: Flex Spending Plan Booklet - Questions and Answers (PDF format). This document provides more detailed answers to common questions about the Flexible Spending Plan, including what medical items are included and the savings benefit of using this plan. If you have further questions, you may contact our Benefits Coordinator, Cindy Fisher, by phone at 766-7885 or by e-mail.

There are two separate reimbursement accounts to select from:

  • Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA): Flex Spending (Health Care) Reimbursement Form
This account reimburses you for health care expenses incurred by you or your eligible dependents that are not paid for by any other medical, dental, vision, or health care plan. You may use your HCRA to be reimbursed for eligible OUT-OF-POCKET health care expenses.
  • Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA): Flex Spending (Dependent Care) Reimbursement Form
This account reimburses you for eligible dependent care expenses which enable you and your spouse to be employed. This includes the cost of day care, a baby sitter, or a nurse to care for a disabled spouse or parent.
