Making Sense of Your Student's Financial Aid Award
Making Sense of Your Student's Financial Aid Award
Thursday, February 9, 2023
Cedarville University began sending financial aid eAward emails last month using our Self Service Financial Aid portal
notification system. We have also begun mailing a customized financial aid prospectus to the parents of accepted new students. Below is additional information for those of you who are awaiting these important pieces of information ... or anticipating
this process next year!
How will we be notified when our student's Financial Aid Award is available?
You will be notified in two ways:
- We will mail a personalized financial aid prospectus to your home address once we have received your student's 2023-24 FAFSA and compiled his or her complete aid package.
- Your student will receive an eAward email letting them know that they can view their current financial aid award(s) by logging in at selfservice.cedarville.edu (the Self-Service portal).
When you or your student receives either of these documents, please sit down with your student and review this information together. Your student should be able to grant you access to review financial aid information, which will allow you to have your own account to use from that point forward.
What if my student's financial aid changes?
After the initial award notification, anytime there is an update to your student's financial aid they will again receive an eAward email directing them to the Self Service - Financial Aid portal.
If we receive this Parent Prep email, will my student definitely be receiving a financial aid award from Cedarville?
We are pleased to provide these ParentPrep resources to all subscribing parents, regardless of whether or not your student plans to attend Cedarville. However, only students who have already applied and been accepted to Cedarville University will receive a financial aid award. For students still in the application process, awards will be sent as soon as the admissions process is complete.
What information is provided in the financial aid eAward?
The eAward email contains important information related to financial aid. However, for specific information about cost of attendance or financial aid awards, your student will be directed to the Self Service - Financial Aid portal. Once logged in you and your student can view their specific ‘financial aid checklist items’ for progress and items that still need to be completed:
- Complete the FAFSA
- Complete required documents (if any)
- Review and Accept their financial aid package: VIEW their up-to-date financial aid package, which details the scholarships, grants, and loans that have been awarded, and ACCEPT or REJECT student loan options
- Review your student’s estimated cost of attendance (this is not your student’s actual bill; the cashiers will email the fall term invoice in mid-July).
Where can my student find his or her financial aid awards or aid package?
Your student can access their current financial aid, as well as other important financial aid information, at Cedarville's Self Service — Financial Aid portal. Your student will need to use his or her username and password to log in. If they have forgotten either of these, they should contact their admissions counselor for help.
Questions?
Don't hesitate to contact our office at 1-800-233-2784. Your student's admissions counselor will also be calling to review your financial aid package, once compiled, and address any remaining concerns or questions.
P.S. If you haven’t yet completed your FAFSA, be sure to do it soon! This is the best way we can award you the most financial aid possible. Need help completing it? We’ve compiled helpful information to assist you in getting started.
