Proficiency Requirements for Incoming Freshmen

Do you have an incoming freshmen student? The information below will be very helpful to understand important proficiency requirements.
All incoming students must satisfy the English and mathematics proficiency requirements.
The English proficiency requirement can be satisfied with one of the following:
- A score of 21 or higher on the ACT English exam
- A score of 550 or higher on the SAT Evidenced Based Reading and Writing exam
- A score of 52 on the combined CLT Verbal Reasoning and Grammar and Writing exams
To satisfy your English proficiency requirement through one of these exams, submit a copy of your ACT, SAT or CLT score report to the Cedarville University Office of the Registrar.
Didn’t take an ACT, SAT or CLT exam or didn’t receive the specified score? No problem! Plan to take the free WritePlacer Accuplacer. Sign up for this placement tool and remote proctoring at cedarville.edu/accuplacer. A score of 6 or higher on the WritePlacer Accuplacer will satisfy your English proficiency requirement.
The mathematics proficiency requirement can be satisfied with one of the following:
- A score of 19 or higher on the ACT Mathematics exam
- A score of 530 or higher on the SAT Mathematics exam
- A score of 20 on the CLT Quantitative Reasoning exam
To satisfy your mathematics proficiency requirement through one of these exams, submit a copy of your ACT, SAT or CLT score report to Cedarville University Office of the Registrar.
Didn’t take an ACT, SAT or CLT exam or didn’t receive the specified score? No problem! Plan to take the free Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics Accuplacer. Sign up for this placement tool and remote proctoring at cedarville.edu/accuplacer. A score of 250 or higher on the Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics Accuplacer will satisfy your Mathematics proficiency requirement.
